"Tree of life" - review

The film "Tree of Life" was presented by David Attenborough. He mainly talks about how various animal species were created from a cell and describes each of these phases in turn. A brief of what has been happening over billions of years is very interesting and can give us endless curiosity, and animations and music have given it the right atmosphere. To sum up, this movie is really worth recommending.

  1. I'm afraid Darwin would turn in his grave (and Attenborough in his bed) if they read this:
"animal species were created from a cell". Created?? By whom?

  2. I don't think Mr. Attenborough describes each phase. He is constantly skipping the very beginning of a new specie. In this video new species already have all their unique features. For example, fish have fins and gills. I wonder which were developed first and how did they survive without one of mentioned features.

Reflection

Some time ago at night I met a large group of wild boars, traveling along the road near my home. They looked rather frightened and upset, and this may have resulted from the lights flashed on each side and the noises of cars rang out. In spite of everything, the wild boars managed to cross the road safely, but in this confusion they strongly damaged the fence to cross to the other side of the forest. I watched the whole incident as an observer and it looked quite strange. Well, because a group of wild boars passing through the zebra crossing isn't an everyday sight. But I think that, in that situation when wild boars appeared on the road, all the drivers should stop and let boars to go to the other side, but in this case not everyone did the same and the animals suffered a big shock. Th ey could at least understand a little about the situation of these poor animals.

Report

This time I watched video about the "signs of intelligence". One of examples was about taking risk in situation when traffic lights turns yellow - will you stop and wait for the next one or rush before red turns on? After driving simulation tests on people, it turns out that those who take greater risks are smarter than those who prefer to wait. And all this due to the fact that they have more developed neural highway system in their brains. However, the example of nail biting surprised me the most. Well, this habit doesn't quite show that you are nervous, but it helps fight boredom and soothe dissatisfaction. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions. She was babbling so I couldn't understand what she exactly said. We all know that our chief has special  prerogatives. https://youtu.be/-iwmwdYhkoA

What do we learn about modern society in this film?

In the film, we certainly have evidence of what contemporary societies are disfigured and duplicitous. It focuses only on self-interest, not paying attention to others and sometimes even hurting them. In really many everyday situations, people pretend, who they really are, what they plan and what they think ... they also are ashamed to admit that they often escape from the problem they may encounter. In a certain form, we had such situations shown in the film.
